ABOUT NIOS

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It was established in 1989 to provide education to students who are unable to attend regular schools. Some of the key points of NIOS includes:

Objectives

      1. Flexible Learning : NIOS aims to offer a flexible learning approach, allowing students to study at their own pace and convenience.

      2.  Inclusive Education : It focuses on providing educational opportunities to disadvantaged groups, including rural youth, women, differently-abled persons, and those who have missed the formal schooling system.

      3. Skill Development : NIOS also provides vocational courses aimed at skill development, helping learners to become self-reliant.
      4. Secondary Education: Equivalent to Class 10, it offers a variety of subjects and a flexible curriculum.

      9. Transfer of Credits: Credits from previous qualifications or institutions can be transferred to NIOS, making it easier for students to complete their education.
